Dr. Glenda Johnson

Glenda S. Johnson, Ph.D., LCMHC, NCSC, is an associate professor in the professional school counseling (PSC) program. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, Texas). She earned a Master of Arts in counseling from Prairie View A&M University, a historically Black college and university (HBCU).She has worked as a school counselor for 17 years, a teacher of students who are deaf or hard of hearing for seven years, and a part-time licensed professional counselor (LPC) for over three years, all in the state of Texas.

Dr. Johnson is a member of multiple professional organizations, including American School Counseling Association, American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, North Carolina School Counselor Association, and North Carolina Counseling Association. She has also held leadership roles, including CACREP Liaison (2019-23), President-North Carolina Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (2020-21), and Black Faculty and Staff Vice-President (2018-19).

In 2023, Dr. Johnson received the college's Inclusive Excellence Award

Her school counseling research interests include providing services to students experiencing poverty, college and career readiness, and English as second language students.
