Dr. Patrick Cunningham

Dr. Patrick D. Cunningham is an assistant prrofessor in the professional school counseling program at Appalachian State University. He earned his Ph.D. in counselor education from The Ohio State University and his Masters of Science in school counseling from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. He has worked as a school counselor in several different settings including a large public high school in Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as private, international schools in Dubai and South Korea.

His research interests include school counseling intervention research, understanding and promoting the role of school counselors as family engagement leaders in schools, suicide prevention, and antiracist school counseling practices.
